Auditions: Emerald Coast Theatre Company

Emerald Coast Theatre Company will hold auditions for its upcoming production of “A Dickens Christmas” from 10:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 18 at the Destin Community Center on Stahlman Avenue.

Production dates will be Dec. 11-21 in Destin and Sandestin with rehearsals beginning in early November.

Three actors will play multiple roles as they bring to life the tale of the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge and his transformational night with the three ghosts.

ECTC needs a male actor, 50 plus looking, Ebenezer Scrooge type, but able to transform into other characters; female actor, 30s to 50s looking; and a male or female actor, 20s to 30s looking. Cockney and Standard British (RP) dialects will be used.

Please prepare a one-minute comedic monologue using a Standard British dialect. Actors may be asked to participate in improv games and cold readings.

Call for Volunteers

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation needs volunteers for the 19th Annual Festival of the Arts to be held Oct. 25 and 26 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.

Various shifts are available including set up and break down, main entry, artist relief, ArtStop children’s tent and beverage booths. All volunteers are welcome to arrive prior to their assigned shift or after their morning shift to visit the artists and enjoy the festival. 

Opportunities are available for students looking to donate their time in exchange for community service hours.

Festival features include a food bistro, wine & beer garden, live music, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. Free shuttle service and convenient on-site parking is also available. Admission is free to MKAF members and children under 12; and $3 for adult/non-members.

Call to Artists: Southeastern Juried Fine Arts Exhibition

The Arts and Design Society is inviting artists across the Southeast to submit works for the 23rd Southeast Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, hosted by Northwest Florida State College and sponsored by the Arts and Design Society.

JPEG images are due by midnight Nov. 1 for the Exhibition, which runs from Jan. 12 through Feb. 13. Entry fee is ADSO members/$35, non-members/$40, with a limit of three entries.

Juror for the event is Julie Bowland, professor of Art and director of the Valdosta State University Fine Arts Gallery, in Valdosta, Ga., and winner of many art awards, with her artwork exhibited nationally.

Call to Artists: Destin Library

The Destin Library has issued a call to area artists inviting them to schedule an exhibit at the library.
