Meet Alec Jackson of Four Points
It may not look like it from the outside, but Four Points by Sheraton on Okaloosa Island has got it going on when it comes to craft cocktails and beers.
A newly launched program that integrates the crafty side of beverages plays right into the wheelhouse of bartender Alec Jackson.
“I like a good drink, and introducing people to good drinks,” Jackson said. “We are coming up with a whole new menu here at Four Points and that’s just another reason why I’m drawn to bartending.”
During his seven years in bartending, Jackson said working at a hotel bar has been a refreshing change to the usual bar scene.
“Working here in a hotel, you meet people from all over the world, people I never thought I’d be about to meet,” he said.
When it comes to his personal bartending style, Jackson said his trick of the trade is his gift for trivia.
“I’m full of useless information,” he said. “For example, did you know cats have 27 muscles in each ear?”
Whether or not you like trivia, locals may be surprised to learn the bar, and surrounding lounge, is open to the public, and there are lots of specials to take advantage of.
“Anyone can come in,” Jackson said. “Every Wednesday we have a program called Best Brews where we put out free appetizers and everyone gets a free local craft draft beer.”
Four Points by Sheraton is working toward a new sophisticated bar style, and Jackson’s signature sip reflects that perfectly.
The Strawberry Basil Gimlet, made with fresh strawberries, fresh basil leaves and Hendrick’s Gin, is a nod toward the Prohibition gimlets that are full of history and sophistication.
Four Points by Sheraton is at 1325 Miracle Strip Parkway SE on Okaloosa Island in Fort Walton Beach. The bar is open 4-11 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 4-10 p.m. on Sunday with Happy Hour 5-7 p.m. daily.
