Tramaine Torry of Fishheads said her dream job is to run a political campaign, but for now she is happy to chill on the harbor and serve fresh fruit cocktails. "I get to be on the water and watch the fish come in. Not everybody gets to see that every day," she said. [SAVANNAH VASQUEZ/DAILY NEWS]

Tramaine Torry grew up in Destin and, although she left for a while to attend college, she said the beach vibe never left her soul. Now that she’s back, she made sure to pick a job right on the water.

“I’ve been bartending for five years,” she said. “I started bartending to pay my way through college, but now it’s because I love it. I wanted a more laid-back kind of thing, more of a beach vibe.”

Fishheads on the Destin Harbor delivers that beach vibe well, because you can order frozen daiquiris and pina coladas served inside a piece of fresh fruit. Torry said the fruit daiquiris that come in a full pineapple, small watermelon or husked coconut do all the advertising for themselves.

“People come down here on vacation and they want to try something different and unique,” she said. “They see the fruit bowl daiquiris and they say, ‘Wow, I want one!’ More selfies have happened here than anywhere else on the harbor, I promise!”

When it comes to her personal favorite of the three fruit drinks, Torry said she is a watermelon lover.

“I like the watermelon daiquiri with added ice cream. It gives you the best of both worlds,” she said. “It’s like a daiquiri mixed with a milkshake, and you can’t beat that!”

As for her signature sip, however, Torry went with Fishheads’ most popular drink, the Pineapple Pina Colada.

“Our Pineapple Pina Colada has fresh crushed pineapple at the bottom, which makes it unique and different,” Torry said. “Being served in a real pineapple just gives it that tropical look people want while on vacation.”

Torry explained the daiquiris can be ordered with or without alcohol because Fishheads aims to be family friendly.

“Fishheads is laid back and kid-friendly; there is something for everyone here,” she said.

Fishheads is at 98 Harbor Boulevard on the Destin Harbor. For more information, find them on Facebook by searching Fishheads or call 850-259-6105.
