Clean Juice offers delicious, healthy choices

Restaurant features are usually about sit-down, order-in, hot meals, but this week I had the chance to break away from the norm and try a new organic restaurant in Miramar Beach called Clean Juice. I’m hooked.

Until recently, one of my favorite summertime meals was impossible to find on the Emerald Coast, acai bowls. The acai berry has become popular in recent years thanks to its high antioxidant profile, which makes it a good meal choice for the healthy-minded.

The most popular way to eat the berry is in the form of a frozen, thick smoothie bowl topped with other fruits, nuts and granolas. The acai bowl first got its start in Brazil and found its way to the United States by way of Hawaii and California, and I for one, am grateful the delicious, yet healthy, meal has finally made it to the Emerald Coast.

By now you are probably aware Clean Juice specializes in serving acai bowls, but they also offer organic cold-pressed juices, smoothies and even a few warm bites, such as avocado toast, almond butter toast and oat bowls.

Of course, my love of acai bowls had me select the most traditional choice of the acai options, the Berry Bowl. The Berry Bowl was acai blended with banana and blueberry and topped with strawberries, bananas, goji berries and granola. It hit my acai craving spot, and I savored every bite.

For my 2-year-old son, I ordered The Young One, a fruit smoothie made specifically with kids in mind, a blend of banana, orange and pineapple. He slurped it down with the biggest smile on his face.

My husband decided to go with his Southern California roots and order The Beach Bowl. The Beach Bowl mixed acai with coconut oil and pineapple and was topped with more fresh pineapple, coconut shavings and granola. As with our other choices, the bowl didn’t last long before every bite was devoured.

We also decided to try some of the cold pressed juices, and took them to go. I ordered the immune-boosting Orange mix, which included organic carrot, orange and pineapple juice as well as the spice turmeric. It was good and gave me energy right away.

My husband chose the Red mix, which included organic apple, beet, carrot and lemon juice. The Red drink was meant to bring energy, and my husband liked it, but I took one sip of it, and remembered I do not like the flavor of beets.

Clean Juice has a clean and modern look to it with light wood tiling, white-and-black details and lots of little design details to tie it all together.

At the Clean Juice location in Miramar Beach, there is also a little photo booth for customers to enjoy while waiting for their food and drink to be made. The photo booth will even send your photos to your email so you can post them on social media right away. We spent a good amount of time entertaining my son in that booth.

The employees of Clean Juice are all friendly and ready to help if you have questions about your order. We even met the franchise owner the morning we visited, and she commented on how much our son enjoyed his smoothie (which he did, a lot!)

Health nut, or not, you are sure to find something you like at Clean Juice, and on the plus you will get the benefit of knowing your choice is organic and wholesome. I will be back often, and can’t wait to try their cold brew coffee-infused acai bowl.
