Pastel Society
The Pastel Society of North Florida presents its 12th Biennial National All Pastel Juried Exhibition through Dec. 6 in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center's Mcllroy and Holzhauer Galleries at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. Many of the artists’ works will be available for purchase. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Call 729-6044.
A+ Art show/sale
The A+ Art “One Size Fits All” show and sale at Northwest Florida State College, South Walton Center, 109 Greenway Trail in Santa Rosa Beach, runs through Dec. 8. This second annual show is comprised of more than a hundred 10-inch by 10-inch wood panels, featuring the fine and funky work of more than 50 local artists.
Art display
Local Color Artists Club will display their art during November at the Walton County Coastal Branch Library. Expect to see a variety of techniques and mediums including watercolors, acrylics, oils, pastels, batik, possibly encaustics and crash glass. Call 678-4813.
Savor The Season
The Taylor Haugen Foundation will hold its fifth annual Savor The Season fundraiser Nov. 6 around the Caliza Pool at Alys Beach. Twelve local chefs will showcase their culinary talents with signature dishes, while recording artist Michael J Thomas provides entertainment. There will also be a live and silent auction. Blue Angels
Naval Air Station Pensacola will host the annual Blue Angels Homecoming Air Show Nov. 7-9 with the Navy’s Flight Demonstration Squadron, the Blue Angels, performing on Saturday and Sunday, along with aerobatics by performers. Friday night’s show features a Fire & Lights night pyro show. Admission and parking is free. Food and memorabilia will be available. Pets and coolers are not permitted.
Blues, Brews and BBQ
Local restaurants fire up the grills for a fun BBQ competition and a good cause from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 8 at HarborWalk Village. Try samples of creative BBQ styles and signature coastal food. Prizes will be awarded including “Best Traditional BBQ,” “Best Seafood BBQ,” and “Most Original BBQ.”
Vettes at the Village
Area corvette clubs bring “America's Sports Car” to the Village Events Plaza from 9-5 p.m. Nov. 8 at the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
Wine Walkabout
Wine tastings, heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music, a charity raffle and more highlight the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s Wine Walkabout at 5:30 p.m. Nov. 13 in the East Bar and Courtyard at Ruth’s Christ Steak House in Destin.
