Songwriter Series

The Endless Summer Songwriter Series takes place Oct. 2 and 3 at Baytowne Wharf. The concert schedule features free performances beginning at 6 p.m. by Nashville songwriters at various locations including Rum Runners, The Village Door, Hammerhead’s Bar & Grille, Graffiti & The Funky Blues Shack, and the Village Events Plaza stage.

Duck Regatta

The fifth annual Emerald Coast Duck Regatta benefiting the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild will be held Oct. 10 at the Village of Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin. The event features fun activities for the whole family, including Abrakadoodle face painters, crafts, scavenger hunts, and the Baytowne Carousel for children 12 and under from 11 a.m. to noon. All family events begin at 10 a.m. and the duck race will begin at 1 p.m. at the lagoon. Make a donation of $10 or more to the Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast Guild to adopt a duck at the Hospital Gift Shop in Miramar Beach, online at www.emeraldcoastduckregatta.com, or at Baytowne Wharf the day of the event. Beer Fest

The Eighth Annual Baytowne Wharf Beer Festival takes place from 5-9:30 p.m. Oct. 16 with Beer Bingo and 12:30-2 p.m. Oct. 17 with a VIP event and 2-6 p.m. craft tasting.

Art exhibition/reception

The Pastel Society of North Florida will have their Members' Exhibition Award Ceremony and Reception from 2-4 p.m. Oct. 18 in the lobby of Goetsch Gallery inside of the Costa Leadership Institute on the third floor of the Student Services Center, Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. A $500 framed pastel by nationally known artist, Marilyn Simpson, PSA will be given as a door prize. The exhibition and reception are free and open to the public. The exhibition will be on view Oct. 18-Dec. 4. Cameron Hampton, a signature member of the Pastel Society of America and an International Association of Pastel Societies Master Circle Recipient, will be the juror and judge of awards.

Festival of the Arts

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation hosts the 20th annual Festival of the Arts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 24 and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 25 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. The festival showcases the original artwork of more than 100 artists and features a live music lineup, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle and more. A food bistro, wine and beer garden as well as convenient parking and motor coach shuttle are also available. Tickets are $5/adults and children under 12 are free. Call 650-2226.

Throwback Cinema

Watch a favorite classic, "Honey I Shrunk the Kids," at 6:30 p.m. Oct. 29 on the Events Plaza lawn at Baytowne Wharf.

Nighttime Educational Beach Walks

Learn about sea turtles, their nesting habits and other wildlife along the beaches of Okaloosa Island and Destin at 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays through November. Limited to 20 people (ages 6 and older) per walk. The walks are free and include a 30-minute orientation. Reservations are required and may be made at 865-0868 or ECTurtleWatch@gmail.com.
