Kids ring in 2016 at LuLu’s

Special to The Log
LuLu’s in Destin rang in 2016 at Noon Year’s Eve, a kid-friendly happening with families enjoying the big countdown to a beach ball drop.

Last Thursday, LuLu’s in Destin hosted its first Noon Year’s Eve event just for kids. Ringing in 2016 was an overwhelming success with non-stop kid-friendly fun.

Families enjoyed the event with kids partaking in arts and crafts, face painting, playing on an inflatable slide and a sandcastle building contest. The high-energy band Kathleen Rees & Pelican 212, consisting of brothers and sisters all under the age of 17, wowed the crowds with their live music.

A few minutes before noon, everyone gathered on LuLu’s sandy beach for the anticipated countdown to noon that included hundreds of falling beach balls. Afterwards, kid-safe “fireworks” took place with delighted children stomping bubble wrap on the floors throughout the restaurant. As always, this was a free family fun event.
