Heritage is one of the bands at the first ever Northwest Fest.

A little music, a little art and a movie are just some of the entertainment options available in Destin this week.

1. Northwest Fest

A new event, Northwest Fest begins at 6 p.m. May 12 under the stars at NWFSC's 2,500 capacity outdoor amphitheater on the Niceville Campus. Featured are locally-based bands Heritage, The Rips and The Okaloosa Sound. Tickets are $10 at 729-6000 or www.MattieKellyArtsCenter.org.

2. Starving Artists Sale

The Arts and Design Society’s Second Annual Starving Artists Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 14 at 17 First Street SE in Fort Walton Beach. ADSO artists will sell their art and/or new or gently-used artists materials or books that they no longer need.

3. Independent Film Series

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a screening of the film “Locke,” a drama, at 3 p.m. May 17 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public. Directed toward a mature audience.
