Lil Jimmy Reed will be one of the performers for the inaugural Destin’s First Responders Fundraiser.

Some community events featuring food, music and fun also provide information and help local organizations. Hop on down to the harbor, walk to the corner of Marler Street and U.S. 98 or drive over to the Convention Center for this week’s things to do.

1. Destin Harbor Hop

For a $5 donation to Food For Thought, guests will hop May 22 to three of the harbor’s restaurants on a complimentary shuttle provided by Sunshine Shuttle and Limousine. Each stop will include live music, food and drink specials. Boshamps will be the first stop from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. with live music by Continuum, followed by AJ’s from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. with live music by the Jacob Mohr Band, and finally Brotula’s from 4-6 p.m. with live music by Cadillac Willy.

2. First Responders Fundraiser

Honor Destin Professional Firefighters and the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office during the inaugural Destin’s First Responders Fundraiser from 4-9 p.m. May 20 at the Destin Harbor Public Parking Lot off Marler Street. Buck’s Smokehouse BBQ, ice cold beer, live music with Lil Jimmy Reed and Ron Adams and a silent auction make the evening complete. All proceeds go to the firefighters and Sheriff’s Office.

3. World’s Greatest Baby Shower

Pregnant women and new parents who have had a baby in the last three months in Okaloosa and Walton counties are invited to the World’s Greatest Baby Shower from 5:30-8 p.m. May 26 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center. The event features ree admission, food, fun, games and prizes. There will be up to 50 information stations on various topics such as parenting, prenatal health, new baby care, community resources and more.
