Red, White and Blue Celebration

An exhibition of plein air paintings by Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters will be on display through Aug. 31 at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach.
Movies at the Landing

Shades of Blue
Opening reception for the Arts and Design Society's "Shades of Blue” will be from 6-8 p.m. Aug. 5 at the Art Center Gallery, 17 First Street, SE, in Fort Walton Beach. The exhibition features works that are in shades of blue — no other color. The show begins Aug. 2 and runs through Aug. 26. Admission to the reception and the gallery is free and open to the public. The Fort Walton Beach Art Walk is held Aug. 5, the 1st Friday of every month until November. It features local arts in all sorts of mediums. There is something for everyone from an array of local art, jewelry and many other handmade creations.

Nashville-based country music songwriters Shane Minor and Phil “Philbilly” O’Donnell will perform at Bud & Alley's, 2236 East County Road 30A in Seaside at 8 p.m. Aug. 9. They will be at the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village in Destin Aug. 10 and The Bay Restaurant, 24215 Hwy. 331 South in Santa Rosa Beach Aug. 11. At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12, the performers will be at the Hub, 7000 East County Road 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. The tour is free and open to the public.
ADSO window display
During August, The Arts and Design Society presents the works of Anne Johnston, featuring her newest oils collection Beach Dreams, in the studio windows at The Art Center Gallery, 17 First Street, SE, that face First Street in Fort Walton Beach.
Summer at Baytowne

Nighttime Educational Beach Walks
Learn about sea turtles, their nesting habits and other wildlife along the beaches of Okaloosa Island and Destin at 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays through November. Who wants some beads?! Join in Fat Tuesday as HarborWalk Village transforms into “The Big Easy” on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. It’s one Pardi in Paradise where you can enjoy dazzling floats, beads and lots of swag during a free parade through HarborWalk Village beginning at 8:30 p.m.
Fish Tales and Scales
The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will host Fish Tales and Scales at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Library. The program is free and open to the public. Get ready to hear some exciting fish tales and experience the excitement and history of the Destin Fishing rodeo held every October on the Destin docks. Bruce Cheves, a Destin legend and the renowned weighmaster of the Rodeo, will explain how he is the judge, jury and sometimes the executioner.
Independent Film Series
The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie, "The Impossible," drama, thriller, at 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public. Directed toward a mature audience.

Stock the Pantry Party
The Third Annual Stock the Pantry Party will take place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at the Food For Thought Santa Rosa Beach Pantry, 132 Market Street. The event will feature the Mellow Mushroom Bake Bus, treats from Pop Stop, drinks from Grayton Beer Company, new Food For Thought T-shirts, a raffle with great prizes, and fun activities for the entire family. Guests are asked to bring five food items (suggested items include plastic jars of peanut butter, plastic jars of jelly, granola bars, fruit cups, snack crackers, and/or breakfast bars) or $5 for entry into the event.
Hispanic Fest
A family-oriented, cultural and educational festival that showcases the best of Hispanic folklore, music and food, Hispanic Fest 2016 will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island. The Fashion Show, a presentation of Tallahassee's Theater with a Mission, and kids activities in the Happy World Kids' Zone, highlight the day. Proceeds benefit the 12th Annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Needy Children’s Fiesta.
Locals Night Out
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse Destin presents Locals Night Out with the music of Jones & Company from 6-9 p.m. every Wednesday in the Courtyard Bar.
