Nashville Songwriters

Nashville-based country music songwriters Shane Minor and Phil “Philbilly” O’Donnell will perform at the Emerald Grande at HarborWalk Village in Destin Aug. 10 and The Bay Restaurant, 24215 Hwy. 331 South in Santa Rosa Beach Aug. 11. At 7:30 p.m. Aug. 12, the performers will be at the Hub, 7000 East County Road 30A in Santa Rosa Beach. The tour is free and open to the public.

Act4Murder

Wednesday Night Concert Series

Bring your chairs and blankets and enjoy a free concert under the stars with Forrest Williams from 7-9 p.m. Aug. 10 in the Events Plaza in Baytowne Wharf.

LuLu’s Bay Bash Concerts

Come by boat, float, paddle or car and enjoy LuLu’s Bay Bash Weekend Concert Series featuring live entertainment from atop the Bay Bar. Lively music will spill out over LuLu’s white sandy beach and the Choctawhatchee Bay from 12-4 p.m. Aug. 12 with Hundred Dollar Car; Aug. 13 with Albert Simpson; and Aug. 14 with Boukou Groove.

Red, White and Blue Celebration

The celebration at 7 p.m. Aug. 11 at HarborWalk Village highlights the efforts of those who go above and beyond to better their community. Enjoy live entertainment with The Deja Vu Band, face painting, WWII vintage North American T-6 Texan airshow, free kid’s crafts, the singing of the National Anthem by 96th AMXS Senior Airman Christine David, a fireworks show over the harbor and fire dancing with Just Add Fire at 9 p.m. Held every Thursday.

Fish Tales and Scales

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will host Fish Tales and Scales at 2 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Library. The program is free and open to the public. Get ready to hear some exciting fish tales and experience the excitement and history of the Destin Fishing rodeo held every October on the Destin docks. Bruce Cheves, a Destin legend and the renowned weighmaster of the Rodeo, will explain how he is the judge, jury and sometimes the executioner.

Arts in Medicine

An exhibition of plein air paintings by Emerald Coast Plein Air Painters will be on display through Aug. 31 at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Miramar Beach.

Movies at the Landing

Grab your blankets and chairs and enjoy a fun night under the stars at 7 p.m. Aug. 12 at The Landing in Fort Walton Beach for fun trivia and prizes. “Annie” starts at dark with concessions available for purchase. This is a free family event — bring the kids and your furry friends.

Lakebottom Proper

Stage Crafters presents the wacky and hilarious Southern fried farce Lakebottom Proper Aug. 12-14 at Fort Walton Beach Civic Auditorium, 107 Miracle Strip Parkway SW. Dive-In Movie — Rescheduled

The movie has been postponed until Aug. 13 because of water main break at LuLu's. Begins at sundown on the water behind Legendary and LuLu's. The movie “Pirates of the Caribbean” will be shown on a big floating blow-up screen. For more information, call Legendary Marine at 337-8300.

Independent Film Series

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie, “The Impossible,” at 3 p.m. Aug. 16 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public. The film is a drama/thriller directed toward a mature audience.

Locals Night Out

Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse Destin presents Locals Night Out with the music of Jones & Company from 6-9 p.m. every Wednesday in the Courtyard Bar.

ADSO window display

During August, The Arts and Design Society presents the works of Anne Johnston, featuring her newest oils collection Beach Dreams, in the studio windows at The Art Center Gallery, 17 First Street SE.

Summer at Baytowne

In addition to free concerts and movies, Baytowne Wharf at Sandestin also offers free events on three other nights in the Events Plaza.

• Hydro Flight Monday: Enjoy three shows over the lagoon by fly-board extraordinaire Ben Merrell at 7, 8 and 9 p.m. through Aug. 13.

• Boomin’ Tuesday: Enjoy lawn games, inflatables, and kids activities from 7-9 p.m. through Aug. 11 with fireworks at 9:15 p.m.

• Magical Thursday: Captain Davy performs from 7-9 p.m. through Aug. 13.

Nighttime Educational Beach Walks

Learn about sea turtles, their nesting habits and other wildlife along the beaches of Okaloosa Island and Destin at 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesdays through November. Limited to 20 people, ages 6 and older, per walk. The walks are free and include a 30-minute orientation. Reservations are required and may be made at 865-0868 or ECTurtleWatch@gmail.com.

Bart Rockett Magic Show
