The Destin Log

This is a week for having fun and doing something good. Enjoy high flying kites, raise money so children can have a Christmas Fiesta, or hop to the Destin harbor for a party on the move.

1. Flying High on the Harbor Kite Festival

Join Kitty Hawk Kites and the Emerald Coast Kite Fliers Club for larger-than-life show kites, professional stunt kite flying demonstrations, free kite flying lessons, a family fun fly event perfect for any age, and special activities from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sept. 17-18 over the harbor at Destin’s Norriego Point. Attendees will receive free shuttle boat service from the docks of HarborWalk Village to Norriego Point. For more information, visit www.kittyhawk.com/event/destin-florida-kite-festival/.

2. Hispanic Fest

A family-oriented, cultural and educational festival that showcases the best of Hispanic folklore, music and food, Hispanic Fest 2016 will be held from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Sept. 18 at the Emerald Coast Convention Center on Okaloosa Island. The fashion show, a presentation of Tallahassee's Theater with a Mission, and kids activities in the Happy World Kids' Zone highlight the day. Proceeds benefit the 12th annual Emerald Coast Christmas Miracle Needy Children’s Fiesta.

3. Destin Harbor Hop

For a $5 donation or more to Food For Thought, guests will hop to three of the harbor’s most esteemed restaurants on a complimentary shuttle provided by Sunshine Shuttle and Limousine from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 18. Each stop will include live music, food and drink specials. First will be Boshamps Seafood & Oyster House with music by The Rips. Next, AJ's Seafood & Oyster Bar with music by Austin Jennings. And last, Brotula's Seafood House & Steamer closes the event with Cadillac Willy.
