Walkabout fundraiser to support MKAF

Special to The Log
Recording artist and Destin local Michael J Thomas will perform at the Walkabout. SPECIAL TO THE LOG

Ruth’s Chris Steak House at Silver Shells Resort in Destin will host its fourth annual Fall Wine Walkabout to benefit Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s cultural arts and arts education initiatives from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Nov. 10 in the East Bar and Courtyard.

Chef Ruston Johnson has created a special menu featuring multiple culinary stations with heavy hors’ douevres paired with select fine wines courtesy of a variety of distributors.

“Once again, Mike Sable’s team at Ruth’s Chris stage an impressive culinary event as a valuable supporter of the arts," said Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation CEO Marcia Hull. "This annual event provides an opportunity for our members and art enthusiasts to learn the impact of MKAF's cultural contributions to sustain a thriving arts and culture community for our residents and visitors.”

National recording artist Michael J Thomas will perform along with Jones and Company. Thomas, an accomplished saxophonist and Billboard chart recording artist, is leaving his mark with local and national fans. His silky, yet pop-like vocals are being compared to the legendary sounds of the late Michael Jackson and '80s pop icon George Michael.

Patrons will have a chance to enter a charity raffle where all guests have an opportunity to win vacation packages around the country. The MKAF Wine Pull has become so popular at this event that this year’s goal is to include a collection of 100 bottles of fine wines donated from wine enthusiasts, private wine cellars, distributors and restaurants. Purchase numbered wine corks to match your winning bottles of wine.

Tickets are $50 per person or $40 for MKAF members and available at www.MattieKellyArtsFoundation.org. All proceeds will fund MKAF’s dual mission of presenting cultural events and arts education outreach initiatives serving populations of children and families, including those with special needs and local wounded warriors.

The Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation was established in 1995 as a champion of cultural arts and education in Northwest Florida. MKAF operates the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin.
