ECTC holding ‘80s Rewind Dance Party fundraiser

Emerald Coast Theatre Company (ECTC) is throwing a big-haired dance party, ‘80s style, at 7:30 p.m. April 14 in ECTC’s performing space Upstairs at 560 Grand Boulevard in Grand Boulevard at Sandestin in Miramar Beach.

Lorraine Christen, founder/owner of Rise Dance Center in Destin, and Denise Fountain with Beachy Beach 30A Real Estate are the co-chairs of the ‘80s Rewind Dance Party.

“We all know ‘girls just want to have fun,' so we invite all the gals out there to grab your guy, tight roll your best acid washed jeans, and walk like an Egyptian to Emerald Coast Theatre Company’s awesome ‘80s Rewind Dance Party fundraiser,” Christen said.

Scrunchies and bolo ties are optional, but best dressed will win for the “Most Choice” outfit. Fight for your right to party with live music by Shenanigans Show Band. Known as “the world’s most persistent ‘80s and ‘90s cover band,” Shenanigans will get everyone on their feet to celebrate “the most energetic decade in music history” by playing everything from Madonna to Hip Hop to Glamrock.

“What a fun way to end our successful 2016-17 season,” said ECTC producing artistic director Nathanael Fisher. “We are grateful to everyone for making this fun spring fundraiser possible. The performing arts is all about expression and gives us all a chance to celebrate life. Now, here is the perfect place and time to channel your inner ‘80s era drama queen with some dancing and music to boot. I hope to see everyone break it down on the dance floor.”

Tickets are $25 in advance and $30 at the door. Proceeds from ticket sales, cash bar and silent auction will benefit Emerald Coast Theatre Company’s educational and professional programs.

Fun ticket package sponsorships are available. The Party Animal is $500 and includes six tickets to the party, logo placement on fly-ers/poster, social recognition, logo in ECTC’s e-newsletter, logo on event signage. The Smooth Operator is $300 and includes four tickets to the part, social recognition, logo in ECTC’s e-newsletter, logo on event signage.
