Red, White and Blue Celebration

Nashville Songwriters Florida Sunshine Tour

Nashville singer/songwriters bring their soulful, gritty, country melodies to the Destin harbor for a free live concert at 7:30 p.m. June 7, July 12 and Aug. 2 on HarborWalk Village’s main stage.

Opening reception for the Arts and Design Society's show Carnival will be held from 6-8 p.m. June 9 at 17 First Street SE in Fort Walton Beach. The exhibition features members' work, reflecting a Carnival theme, with a variety of interpretations. The winning 13 works will be featured in ADSO's 2018 Calendar. The show runs from June 6-23. ADSO window display

During June, The Arts and Design Society presents the works of versatile artist Helen Harris who will showcase her encaustic, enamel, and acrylic works. The window art is available for viewing 24/7 at The Art Center Gallery, 17 First Street SE in Fort Walton Beach.

Bay Bash

Boat up, float up, paddle up, or come by land to LuLu’s Second Anniversary Bay Bash from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. June 11. The day is filled with non-stop fun and back-to-back live music. Performers include Simplified, Albert Simpson & John Kulinich, Lamont and the Adam Holt Band. Prizes awarded to first 20 boats.

Fat Tuesday Parade

Who wants some beads? Join in Fat Tuesday as HarborWalk Village transforms into the Big Easy on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. It’s one Pardi in Paradise where you can enjoy dazzling floats, beads and lots of swag during a free parade through HarborWalk Village. Parade begins at 8:30 p.m. every Tuesday.

Art exhibit

The Mattie Kelly Arts Center Galleries present a national touring exhibition, Tales and Myths: The Paintings of Katherine Ace, through July 22 in both the McIlroy and the Holzhauer Galleries at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville. The exhibition of works Ace takes familiar and not-so-familiar fairy tales and retells them in large-scale mixed-media paintings. The exhibition is free of charge and open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and 90 minutes prior to most Mainstage Theater performances.

Movies in the Park

Uptown Station in Fort Walton Beach will hold the free Movies in the Park Summer Series showing the movie “Rogue One: A Star Wars Story” at 7:30 p.m. June 17. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating.

Independent Film Series

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will sponsor a movie, the drama/romance "Wres-tling Ernest Hemingway," at 3 p.m. June 20 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public; directed toward a mature audience.

Ballet at Twilight

The Northwest Florida Ballet presents a free evening of classical ballet and contemporary dance featuring international guest artists at 7:30 p.m. June 24 in Grand Park at Grand Boulevard. Bring a chair or blanket.

Call to artists: Art Show

The Arts and Design Society is calling all artists to participate in their upcoming “What’s in the Constitution” Show. Art-work, inspired by a phrase from the US Constitution, must have that phrase appear in the artwork. Cash awards. Turn in work from 1-4 p.m. Saturday, June 24, or 9 a.m. to noon Monday, June 26. Hairspray, Jr.

The summer musical theater workshop for youth at Northwest Florida State College will present the mini-musical comedy "Hairspray, Jr." in the Sprint Theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at 1 p.m. June 28 and 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. June 29. Tickets are $5 each and available starting June 14. The show will be the culmination of concentrated training in voice, acting, and dance offered through a musical theatre workshop for youth ages 8th grade.

Fourth of July Celebration

Visit the Destin harbor and celebrate Independence Day with live music and fireworks at 7 p.m. Fireworks start at 9 p.m. Dana Point Band performs July 2, Kane & The Saint on July 3 and January Noise July 4.

‘Sister Act’ at college

The Fine & Performing Arts Division of Northwest Florida State College pre-sents the hit musical comedy “Sister Act” at 7:30 p.m. July 19-22 in the Mainstage Theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at the Niceville Campus. Paddle at the Porch

The 6th Annual Paddle at the Porch, a stand up paddle board race, will take place at 9 a.m. Aug. 19, in the Gulf waters behind The Back Porch Seafood & Oyster House in Destin. Festival of the Arts

Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation presents the 22nd Annual Festival of the Arts from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 28 and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Mattie Kelly Cultural Arts Village in Destin. A celebration of art, music, food and family fun, the Festival will showcase the original art-work of more than 100 artists and features a live music lineup, a food bistro, wine and beer garden, art activities for kids, souvenir posters and T-shirts, art raffle drawing and more. Convenient parking and motor coach shuttle are available. Admission is $5 for adults; MKAF members and children (12 and under) are free. Pro-ceeds benefit MKAF’s community outreach programs. Bella Sera

Nathan Fife will be hosting and performing as a solo pianist from 7-10 p.m. Saturdays and 6-9 p.m. Thursdays and Fridays at Bella Sera. Guest singers and musicians will appear occasionally.

Drop-in Wine Tasting

Bella Sera Bistro at HarborWalk Village will host a Drop-in Wine Tasting every other Wednesday. Cost is $15/person and includes an assortment of wines, appetizers, bread and other snacks.
