It’s a kids-only ‘Noon Year’s’ celebration

Everyone gathers for last year's Noon Year Beach Ball Drop. [SPECIAL TO THE LOG]

It’s a New Year’s party before bedtime just for kids and their families to end the year with a bang.

LuLu’s in Destin will host their third annual Noon Year’s Eve at 10 a.m. on New Year’s Eve day, Sunday, Dec. 31. It will be non-stop free kid-friendly fun for the whole family with excitement around every corner as LuLu’s celebrates and rings in the New Year.

Noon Year’s Eve will feature a sandcastle building contest, arts and crafts, clowns, face painting, and more on the sandy beach overlooking the Choctawhatchee Bay. Live entertainment will be by the well-known family band Pelican 212 out of Nashville. The sibling band members perform all over the country, and were featured on the TV show “Little Big Shots” last year.

As the festivities draw closer to noon, the event will reach its high point with a huge beach ball drop countdown. Hundreds of beach balls will be encased in netting over the kids’ heads and will be released at noon. Then kids can partake in their very own “fireworks” by stomping on bubble wrap throughout LuLu’s. LuLu's will close at 3 p.m.
