1. Birds of Paradise

The Krewe De Lu Roux presents the Birds of Paradise Mardi Gras Ball from 7-10 p.m. Feb. 8 at LuLu’s in Destin. The event will include a buffet and open bar and will feature music by Hotwire. Attire is island elegance. Purchase tickets at www.lulubuffett.com. LuLu’s is at the foot of the Mid-Bay Bridge, next to Legendary Marina.

2. Mardi Gras Masquerade

Enjoy a family evening at the eighth annual Mardi Gras at Destin Commons from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 9 with entertainment by Mr. Big and the Rhythm Sisters and an authentic Mardi Gras street brass band play throughout the center. Kids can create Mardi Gras accessories and masquerade masks. Parade begins at 7 p.m. with more than 30 floats. Treasures, trinkets and beads will be thrown. 3. Mardi Gras at HarborWalk

The Mardi Gras Pub Crawl begins at 6 p.m. Feb. 9 at HarborWalk Village and the Destin harbor. Wear your best Mardi Gras outfit and enjoy drink specials at each stop. Cost is $10 benefiting Alaqua Animal Refuge.

The free 10th annual Mardi Gras Parade at HarborWalk is from 2-5 p.m. Feb. 10 with floats, costumes, street performers, live music and beads, beads and more beads.

Celebrate Fat Tuesday and Mardi PAWS from 5-8 p.m. Feb. 13. Enjoy free red beans and rice and watch the Second Annual Mardi PAWS Costume Contest where you can show off your pets decked out in purple, green and gold on the main stage. Judges will award prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Contest entry is $10 donation for Alaqua Animal Refuge.
