More than $7,500 was raised from the Rotary Club of Destin’s recent barbeque fundraiser with proceeds benefiting local organizations serving the club’s mission to help eradicate hunger in the community. Recipients included The Destin Middle School Rotary Interact Club to support their “Blessing in a Backpack” program with food needs for “qualifying” students; Harvest House; and Walton Food for Thought.

Other 2012 club service projects that the Destin Rotarians support through financial and volunteer efforts include a quarterly “Clean Sweep” at Destin Elementary School in sanitizing classrooms to reduce student health absences; the Mattie Kelly Arts Foundation’s educational outreach program, All Kinds of Art; and Thrivent Financial Services for the Crop Drop community project.

The Rotary Club of Destin represents more than 50 business women and men who are committed to “Service Above Self” and mission to positively changing lives through service … across the street and around the world with emphasis on eradicating hunger and supporting education. The Destin Rotary Club meets every Tuesday at 7:15 a.m. at Rutherford’s 465 at Regatta Bay Golf & Country Club. For more information, contact Marcia Hull at 850-865-2229.
