Free class to feature ‘Color, Fashion & You’
Joyce Waters-Smith will host a free class, Color, Fashion & You, from 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24 at the Destin Library. To register, call the library at 837-8572.
Presenters include Claudene Schaetzle, a reference librarian who worked at Eglin AFB library. She currently heads the Friends of the Niceville Library’s Book Store. Before receiving her Master’s Degree in Library Science, Schaetzle taught computer and tutored in math and accounting.
Sandra Donnelly is a home decorator who worked with Atlanta’s top designers, operated her own custom design jewelry business and studied with leading coordinators in personal development.
The two women met at Life Long Learning, a seniors program in Fort Walton Beach, and decided to develop a fun course in color and fashion. They have enjoyed teaching the eight week LLC class now for five years.
Week 1 – Oct. 1
Learn the differences between cool and warm colors. As a class, we will decide which color palette complements your skin tone. Discover the advantages of learning your correct colors. Learn about color theory and how to best blend colors together.
Week 2 – Oct. 10
A consultant will talk about make-up and skin care. Discover the correct way to apply make-up that complements you. Also, talk about hair coloring and haircuts. Ask questions about any problems you are having.
Week 3 – Oct. 17
Megan from Soma in the Destin Commons will talk about shapewear, underwear, and bathing suits. Ask her questions about your “problem areas.” Watch a short segment on “How Not to Look Fat” and talk about ways to minimize problem areas.
Week 4 – Oct. 24
Watch a short segment on finding the perfect fitting jeans and a segment on buying correctly fitting slacks. Talk about cleaning out your cluttered closet and finding out how to shop in your own closet. Learn how to break up a suit, accessorize an outfit, and build a more impressive wardrobe.
