Coastal Holiday Market

Local artists, artisans, gift vendors, and crafters are needed for the third annual Coastal Holiday Market to be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Nov. 9 at St. Rita Church in Santa Rosa Beach. Vendor spaces are available starting at $40.  Funds collected for space rentals will benefit Caring and Sharing of South Walton, and the St. Vincent de Paul Community Outreach Program. For details, application or question, contact Barbara Hodge at 850-267-6078.

Walter S. Jones graduates basic training

Air Force Airman Walter S. Jones graduated from basic military training at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, San Antonio, Texas.

The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills.

Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

Jones, the son of Walter Jones of Destin, is a 2012 graduate of Fort Walton Beach High School.

Sterling Resorts wins top 2013 Flagler Award

Sterling Resorts is the winner of the prestigious 2013 Flagler Award, the “Henry,” presented by Visit Florida during the annual Governor’s Conference on Tourism in Orlando, Fla.  Sterling Resorts is being honored for their Black Friday e-blast direct marketing campaign as the best in the state. 

“We are thrilled that our creative efforts to attract more visitors to Sterling Resorts and the state of Florida has been recognized by our industry through Visit Florida,” said Sterling Resorts Marketing Director Jayna Leach.

Sterling Resorts was the only rental management company in northwest Florida to win a “Henry,” at this year’s conference. The “Henry” is named for the visionary Henry Flagler, who is known as the “grandfather” of Florida tourism. 

NWFSC Collegiate High School a 2013 Blue Ribbon School

Included in this list of distinguished schools recognized as National Blue Ribbon Schools is the Collegiate High School located on the main campus of Northwest Florida State College.

“We have been very fortunate to have consistently produced outstanding academic results at the Collegiate High School at NWF State College,” said Anthony Boyer, director. “CHS students, parents, faculty and staff have worked very hard. It is an honor for CHS to be recognized as a National Blue Ribbon School. Being selected for this award is both humbling and a culmination of our dedication toward improving students’ lives.”

The National Blue Ribbon Schools award honors public and private elementary, middle, and high schools where students perform at very high levels or where significant improvements are being made in students’ levels of achievement.

Andrea Moak Owner of the Year at Karna Fitness

Karna Fitness, a national fitness and nutrition program designed for women, recently awarded its 2013 Owner of the Year to Andrea Moak of Karna Finess of the Emerald Coast.

Moak holds Karna Fitness classes at the Emerald Grande in Destin and recently passed the torch of Baby Boot Camp ownership to another Destin native last month to solely focus on Karna Fitness.
