The City of Destin was designated a “Purple Heart City” by the Military Order of the Purple Heart at the Dec. 16, 2013, city council meeting.

On Nov. 18, 2013, the City of Destin proclaimed that it fully recognizes and supports Okaloosa County as the first “Purple Heart County” in the State of Florida. The proclamation also expressed the city’s gratitude for the sacrifices our Purple Heart recipients have made in defending our freedoms.
