Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center offers scholarship to local student

Special to The Log

Regatta Chiropractic and Laser Center of Destin will offer a $3,000 BrainCore Therapy Scholarship to one local student in need.

The scholarship includes two QEEG brain maps and 20 neurofeedback sessions valued at more than $3,000. Students and/or parents are asked to submit why they should be chosen in 1,000 words or less to by 5 p.m. Sept. 30.

Neurofeedback is used to address the symptoms associated with a wide range of neurological conditions, including: ADHD/ADD, anxiety, depression, insomnia, fibromyalgia, PTSD, migraines, chronic pain and more.

The goal of neurofeedback is to transform an unhealthy, dysregulated brainwave pattern into a normal, healthy, organized pattern. In doing so, the brain becomes more stable and is able to operate optimally and efficiently. The results are permanent and, unlike medication, there are no side effects. Neurofeedback therapy is safe, non-invasive and appropriate for people of all ages. In fact, the Food and Drug Administration recognizes that neurofeedback has never produced a serious side effect since it was first discovered more than 40 years ago. In 2013, the American Academy of Pediatrics raised the level of efficacy to level 1, the same level of efficacy as prescription medication.

“It is my hope that this scholarship will impact the life of a local student who may not have known about this or those who knew but may not have been able to afford the therapy otherwise,” said Dr. Shawna Hogan, owner and head chiropractor at Regatta Chiropractic & Laser Center.
