Museum celebrates 9th anniversary

Special to The Log
The Museum is on Stahlman Avenue off U.S. Hwy. 98 near the Destin Bridge.

The Destin History and Fishing Museum will mark its 9th anniversary Oct. 1 with free admission. Take this opportunity to visit.

There are almost 4,000 sq. ft. of exhibits which feature the history of the early families from the 1830s; the fishing industry from net boats, called seine boats, to what you see in the Destin harbor today; more than 75 fish mounts of locally caught fish; and many other aspects of Destin’s unique history.

While at the museum, visit the last seine boat built in Destin in 1926 and the original post office building with additional exhibits of Destin’s history.

The Destin History and Fishing Museum is at 108 Stahlman Avenue and is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. For more information, call 850-837-6611.
