Destin Rotarians at work

The Rotary Club of Destin recently participated in two community projects for United Way’s Day of Caring and the Bay Breeze Patio “Eggs on the Beach” to benefit The Fisher House.
Destin Rotary Club President, Bill Lindsley stated, “Rotary’s motto is “Service Above Self” and our club annually adopts community projects to make a difference to others in need …. across the street and around the world.”
Destin Rotarians rallied support for United Way of Okaloosa & Walton counties 21st Annual Day of Caring where volunteers celebrate the spirit of giving through local service projects. The Rotary Club of Destin provided and served lunch to show appreciation to hundreds of community volunteers at the Destin Community Center.
The Rotary Club of Destin was one of 25 cook teams that participated in the Inaugural Eggs on the Beach at Seascape Resort. More importantly, Destin Rotarians raised funds matched by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation for Rotary International’s “Purple Pinkie Project” to help eradicate polio worldwide. From just this single event, more than 325 children in third-world countries will be immunized through the club’s fundraising efforts. Rotarians become a part of the solution to polio and the purple pinkie project is a personal reminder that one more child is saved from the polio virus.
