Author and educator to celebrate nine publishings

Author Lisa Morris will hold a book signing and meet and greet, Bookmarks and Barks, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, at Another Broken Egg Cafe in Grand Boulevard. Guests will enjoy appetizers and a cash bar, as well as an open forum to ask Morris questions and have books signed. The event is open to the public, however space is limited. Master teacher Lisa Morris is an accomplished writer with 17 published works including several books, magazine articles, memoirs, and ebooks. Having worked in education for more than 23 years, a number of the author’s works include instructional books such as, Awakening Brilliance in the Writer’s Workshop, Powerful Persuasive Writing and her most recent memoir, One Life at a Time: A Rescuer’s Memoir.

As a keynote speaker and sought-after trainer, Morris understands what teachers need in regards to implementing writing instruction, the common core standards, and the high demands of testing. In addition to her step-by-step instructional works, Morris is also featured in one of the world’s favorite and most recognized storytellers, Chicken Soup for the Soul.

A portion of proceeds from book sales at Bookmarks and Barks will benefit Alaqua Animal Refuge and Professional Educator’s Association of Northwest Florida State College. Each organization will have a representative on hand to take additional donations and field any questions regarding future opportunities.

Morris has been an educator for the past 23 years. In addition to writing she is also an adjunct professor of education at Northwest Florida State College. Her first book was published in 2011 and she has since published two memoirs, four Chicken Soup for the Soul titles, and four additional educational books. She is currently under contract to release three more books by the end of 2015.
