Summer Fun Guidebook
The United Way of Okaloosa and Walton Counties is gathering information on children’s summer programs for the “2015 Children’s Summer Fun Guidebook,” designed to help parents find safe, fun and educational daytime summer activities for children. The criteria for the guidebook includes: programs offered to youth ages 4 – 18 during the months of June, July and August. Deadline to submit information is April 6.
The “2015 Program Information Sheet” is available at www.united-way.org which can be sent to United Way either by mail, fax or email to the following: Attention: 2015 Summer Fun Guidebook, 112 Tupelo Avenue, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548; fax 243-6625 or email events@united-way.org. Feel free to attach any flyer or document that will help describe your programs. The last day of school is June 4.
Hiring at new Chick-fil-A
Hiring has begun for upward of 80 positions at Miramar Beach’s first Chick-fil-A restaurant tentatively slated to open April 23 on Scenic Gulf Drive.
Owner/operator Mike Ricks is looking to hire full-time and part-time positions. Among other benefits that includes scholarships for continuing education, Chick-fil-A restaurant team members appreciate having Sundays off and the family atmosphere created at the restaurant.
Ricks is accepting applications for all positions including dining area, front counter, drive through, kitchen and prep. Applications are being taken and interviews conducted at the hiring trailer at the new Sandestin restaurant. Applications are available in a mailbox if the applicant is picking one up outside the hours of Monday through Friday 9 a.m.. to 5 p.m. Completed applications must be returned in person.
Local foundation seeks scholarship applicants
The AHEPA-Pensacola Charitable Foundation, Inc. has annually awarded scholarships available for Northwest Florida (Escambia, Santa Rosa and Okaloosa counties) applicants open to all fields of study. Scholarships are available to persons entering or already attending a college or university during calendar year 2015.
Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, extracurricular participation, part-time/community work, essay preparation, recommendations and financial need. Past scholarship winners may reapply.

Chicken Salad Chick launches loyalty program
A new loyalty program at Chicken Salad Chick will allow guests to earn points from their purchase and redeem them for various rewards, including free menu items, retail merchandise and dollars off their purchase. Other features of the custom app include online ordering, exclusive news, up-to-date location information and special offers.
“Since we first opened our doors back in 2008, we have been continuously humbled by the devotion of our guests,” said founder Stacy Brown. “We can’t wait for our wonderful fans to join this program that not only rewards their loyalty, but also gives them an inside look into the Chicken Salad Chick culture.”
