Destin Elementary fourth graders have end-of-year holiday party
Destin Elementary School fourth graders sent the year off with a bang on Friday at their annual holiday breakfast.
Teachers, students and parents came together, dressed in pajamas, in the cafeteria for a morning filled with food, snow cones, games and a photo booth. The kids even had a "teacher wrapping" contest, where each teacher was wrapped and decorated with streamers, sparkles and Christmas bows.
"I'm really excited for the end of the school year," said fourth grader Hannah Weatherbie. "I'm going on a brand new adventure (next year). This year has been amazing. And today I saw my teacher get turned into a Christmas tree!"
After the breakfast, so much food was left over that the parents were able to donate it to the Destin Fire Control District, Harvest House and the Boys and Girls Club.
Amanda Ferris, one of the fourth grade teachers, said the day was a special day for kids and their families.
"We do this because it's putting families together and celebrating each other before the new year and Christmas," she said.
