The city of Destin, along with the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, sponsored a beach clean up event at Norriego Point on Earth Day, April 22. Dozens of volunteers scoured the sand along the East Pass, picking up all forms of discarded items and garbage, which included a buried beach towel, a near new snorkeling mask and snorkel and a small crab (which made it clear it was not going to be picked up). Volunteers were provided with coffee from Destin Coffee, and had a beautiful, breezy morning in which to work.
