McInnis to exhibit watercolor works at Destin Library

Special to The Log

The Destin Library will showcase the work of local artist Theresia McInnis May 1 through June 2.

After retiring from a career in public education, McInnis continued her artistic passion by exploring other styles but always returned to her primary medium — watercolor.

“Watercolor allows me to speak with a whisper with gentle and delicate stokes or demand attention with bold rich and dramatic tones,” she said. “Painting allows me to recreate memorable experiences in vivid color.”

Recently, McInnis has turned her artistic attention to the creation of character paintings — candid portrayals of beach people.

In 2015, McInnis’ artwork was selected as the Destin Seafood Festival's official poster. Other awards received include best in show for “The Top of the Class 2014” from the Cultural Arts Alliance of Walton County; honorable mention — Okaloosa Public Arts Courthouse Project; second place and multiple honorable mentions (Arts Design Society).

At present, numerous works by McInnis are available for sale on her website.

McInnis resides in Niceville with her husband John. She loves to travel and experience history.

“It’s stimulating to think what it would be like to experience life both in the present and in the past of the places visited,” she said.

Her work can be seen at or on Facebook at Art Creations by Theresia.
