Destin Library patrons owing fines for overdue books, videos, DVDs and CDs will be exempt from the fine if overdue materials are returned along with a donation of canned goods (no expired food items, rusty cans or crushed boxes will be accepted). Items particularly desired are peanut butter, canned ravioli and SpaghettiOs OR a cash donation. Donations will not be accepted for lost or damaged items. The Food-for-Fine drive will benefit Harvest House, Inc., of Destin. Continues through Jan. 3.

Floral Design/Nautical Knots

The Friends Guild of the Destin Library will host a program featuring Floral Design and Nautical Knots at 2 p.m. Jan. 8 at the Destin Library. The program is free and open to the public. Email to confirm attendance. Call 837-8572.

ACT/SAT workshop

A workshop to assist students in Okaloosa County High Schools who will take the Feb. 6 ACT and Jan. 23 and March 5 SAT will be held from 2-5 p.m. Jan. 19, 20, 25 and 26 at Fort Walton Beach High School and 2-5 p.m. Jan. 21, 22, 27 and 28 at Niceville High School. All materials, snacks and drinks are furnished. Students need to bring calculators. Registration deadline is Jan. 7. Destin City Hall

All City Council meetings, workshops, executive sessions and CRA Board meetings are held at the City Hall Annex, 4100 Indian Bayou Trail. All other board and committee meetings are held at City Hall, 4200 Indian Bayou Trail.

Republican Women

The Republican Women of Okaloosa Federated will meet at 11:30 a.m. Jan. 6 at the Wyndam Garden Hotel on Okaloosa Island. Installation of the 2016-2018 Board of Directors will take place with Libby Hill, president of Silver Sands Republican Women, as the installing officer. Attendees are encouraged to bring donations of bottled water for the USO as well as empty print cartridges, which are turned in for money for supplies at the USO.
