The 2017 Destin/Emerald Coast Senior Games finished up recently with more than 325 seniors from all over the country and Canada taking part in the Olympic-style games. In all, 17 sports were offered over the month of February. Table tennis and volleyball were the last remaining events held at the Destin Community Center.

Senior Games Director Pat Markey wanted to make sure to thank not only the athletes, but also the venues that allowed us to put on our best games yet. In addition, Markey wanted to thank the many sponsors that helped fund these events.

“Without their support there is no way that we could pull off an event of this size and duration.”

Next year, the plan is to add additional sports and activities such as a 2K beach walk, horseshoes and, hopefully, increase softball participation.
