White Tesla Roadster to be auctioned off at DCWA
The Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation (DCWAF) recently announced that a white 2010 Tesla Roadster Sport will be auctioned off at the 12th annual auction on April 29. The donated Tesla is being gifted by the St. Joe Community Foundation Inc., and was chosen by public voting. There is currently only one other 2010 Tesla Roaster available for sale in the United States, making this one of the rarest lots ever procured by DCWAF.
The St. Joe Community Foundation Inc. was gifted two 2010 Tesla Roadster Sports, one black and one white, earlier in the year and asked the public to weigh in on which vehicle to auction off. Each Tesla Roadster Sport is gently used, with less than 5,000 miles. The community was invited to preview the vehicles and cast their vote through April 15 at Watersound Café, 573 Pathways Drive No. 101 within the Watersound Origins community.
The Tesla Roadster can accelerate from zero to 60 mph in 3.7 seconds and combines the performance of a high-end sports car with the environmental-friendliness of an all-electric drivetrain that emits zero emissions. Built in limited numbers, the Roadster can travel nearly 250 miles on a single charge, and its lithium-ion battery pack can recharge in 3.5 hours. The 2010 Sport version features quicker acceleration and an adjustable suspension. Competitors to the Roadster include the Porsche 911 and Audi R8.
“We couldn’t be more excited about the voting results and hope our auction patrons are too,” Destin Charity Wine Auction Foundation President John Russell said. “We’ve had some extraordinary lots in our past, but nothing like this. We’ve waited 12 years to bring a car to our auction, and it was absolutely worth the wait. We are so grateful to The St. Joe Community Foundation for their support of our organization and our mission of helping children in need in Northwest Florida.”
Destin Charity Wine Auction is currently ranked No. 3 in the “Top 10 Charity Wine Auctions in the US” by Wine Spectator Magazine, raising more than $13 million for children in need in Northwest Florida since its inception in 2005. Now in its 12th year, DCWAF has impacted more than 75,000 at-risk youth through their fundraising efforts. The signature event, the Destin Charity Wine Auction, is held in South Walton within Grand Boulevard the last weekend in April each year.
A limited number of Patron Packages are still available for the 12th annual Destin Charity Wine Auction and are available at www.dcwaf.org/tickets.
