Fasching party scheduled for Feb. 10

Special to The Log

The ladies Sodality of Corpus Christi Catholic Church are planning a Fasching Party from 5-9 p.m. Feb. 10 in the Church Hall.

There will be a DJ playing German music as well as other music for your dancing pleasure, homemade food including German bratwurst and knackwurst from USINGERS of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, sauerkraut, red cabbage, German potato salad, pumpernickel bread, apple cake for dessert and coffee, iced tea and lemonade. German beer and wine will be offered for sale. Admission is $20 per person.

The pre-Lenten carnival of Fasching has been celebrated in the Bavarian area of Germany since the middle ages and it is still celebrated in the present day. In it, we can see a total involvement of the townspeople that characterized the great German festivals of the past. For three days before Lent, the affairs of everyday life come to a standstill. The celebration includes dressing in costumes and/or masks along with parades with floats, music and lots of food and beverages. It is older than the Mardi Gras that is presently celebrated in New Orleans and Mobile.

Join in for an evening of good food, lively dancing and lots of fun. Tickets can be purchased by calling Jen Dwight at 850-543-9557 or Mimi Sisson at 850-376-1599.
