Master Gardeners hosting Plant Clinic

Special to The Log
Linda Timothy

A Plant Clinic will be held by the Okaloosa County Master Gardeners from 9 a.m. to noon April 13 at the County Extension Annex, 127 Hollywood Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach.

Bring a sample of problem weeds or grass in a plastic bag, and a master gardener will diagnose the problem and give you some helpful hints and solutions to insure you have the most beautiful landscape on your street.

Attendees could also take a picture with their phone and bring that in if the plant or tree is too large and you need some help with some identifications. There will be a variety of master gardeners on hand and a specialist will be available to help.

Another upcoming event will be Vegetable Gardening in Northwest Florida with Linda Timothy of Destin from 10-11 a.m. April 18 at the County Annex building, 127 Hollywood Blvd. in Fort Walton Beach.

Learn how to create raised bed gardening beds for lettuce, broccoli, and many varieties of beans, okra, eggplant, tomatoes and herbs.

Timothy is a local expert at growing tomatoes. She loves to share her secret techniques for combating the bugs, what fertilizers she prefers to use with vegetables, soil types and her latest favorite gardening tool.

A native of Mobile, Alabama, Timothy has resided in Northwest Florida for 26 years. She is a graduate of the University of Alabama. She was a real estate broker for 20 years, and is a past president of Destin Garden Club.
