‘God called us here’

Kingdom Life Vision Center hosted the grand opening of its new building Dec. 2 at 1021 U.S. 98 E. in the Gulf View Plaza.

Before Josh and Jodi Young moved to Destin in August 2011, they had offers from several international ministries to join their teams.

But God began to stir in their hearts to return to the South and start a vision center in Destin.

“Simply stated, we felt God called us here,” Young told The Log. “We had vacationed in Destin many times, but had no friends or family here. We felt strongly that Destin was the place God was leading us to.

“In our minds and Spirit, even though the thought of launching a church in a brand new city where we didn't know anyone was daunting, we knew God was calling us here. It was the only ‘sure thing’.”

Young, a pastor’s kid, cut his teeth on the church plants of his father in Texas and Tallahassee, Fla. He began leading worship at 15 and has been in church leadership ever since.

The Youngs have given a lifetime to help people realize that God’s presence changes everything, no matter the situation.

For more than 16 years, the Youngs have dedicated their lives and ministry to create an atmosphere where God’s kingdom could come through authentic worship, prophetic teaching, and activating others to walk in who God created them to be.

In 2004, the couple moved to New England to work with John Paul Jackson at Streams Ministries International.

“We traveled nationally and internationally working with churches and ministries throughout,” Young said. “Working with John Paul Jackson, we helped to plant two Bridge Churches in New England.”

Kingdom Life Vision Center, a non-denominational church, opened its doors Feb. 5, 2012, at The Palms of Destin.

According to Young, it is a family of believers who have a vision for the presence of God.

“We believe in a powerful, mighty God who is today who He was in the Bible performing signs, wonders, and miracles,” he said. “We believe it is our job, as believers, to do the gospel, not just listen to it. We value and are committed to equipping a people who are loving, character oriented, sensitive to the Spirit of God, walk in authority, move in power, and are grounded in His Word.”

One goal at the church is to create an atmosphere where children are able to experience the presence of God and the Father’s love.

“We create an environment where the Holy Spirit is welcome and the children are positioned to encounter God’s manifest presence,” Young said. “We believe strongly in teaching and demonstrating God’s kingdom through Word and Spirit, which inspires and equips them with the power of God.”
