Palm Sunday musical program
The Fort Walton Beach Stake Choir and orchestra will present a special musical program, “Lamb of God,” at 6:30 p.m. Palm Sunday, April 13.
Written and composed by Rob Gardner, it recounts the events of Jesus’ last days, his atonement and resurrection, through the eyes of those who loved him and knew him best — Peter, John, Thomas, Mary and Martha of Bethany, Mary Magdalene, and His mother, Mary. The narration is taken from the King James version of the New Testament.
Drawn from eight units in the FWB stakes, the choir, soloists and orchestra come from Crestview, Niceville and Fort Walton Beach. Ingrid Roberts is the concertmaster and Krissie Cook is the conductor of this spiritual musical experience.
Peter will be sung by Donovan Black, David Simmons will sing John’s words, Thomas will be sung by Eric Shoemaker, Mary and Martha of Bethany by Rebecca Wendel and Kay Newton respectively. Other soloists include Aaron Tew, Valerie Bidstrup, Amy Gouker, Dayvid Prahl, Josh Riley and Mark Harris.
Instead of the Savior being represented by a narrator or vocal soloist, the “voice” of the Savior is played by solo cellists, Craig Bidstrup and Aldo Seager. Also, parts of the music will be sung in Aramaic, as they would have been spoken by those who lived when and where Jesus Christ lived.
Admission will be a donation of non-perishable food to benefit local food banks.
