One hundred Southern Baptist ministers of music will share the Gospel of Christ through song May 1.

The Christian musical group The CenturyMen will present a free concert at 7 p.m. May 1 in the mainstage theater of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville. The event, sponsored by Shalimar United Methodist Church, is free and a love offering will be taken.

The CenturyMen, an auditioned men’s chorus of 100 professional musicians who are directors of music in churches across America and from around the world, have been singing and sharing the Gospel through their music since 1969.

Public performances by The CenturyMen include extensive touring in the United States, nationwide telecasts, and church and concert hall appearances. Concert tours in foreign countries include Brazil, China, Russia, Poland, The Czech Republic, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Switzerland, Israel and Turkey.

The CenturyMen’s 2001 East Coast Tour afforded them appearances at the United States Capitol and on the CBS Early Show. They have been the recipients of a Dove Award nomination and were finalists for a Grammy Award for “Best Classical Crossover Album for 2000.” Their “Beautiful Star Christmas” recording has been featured during the holiday season on radio stations nationwide for the past four Christmas seasons.

Other highlights include a 2002 Crystal Cathedral Appearance, 2001 CBS Early Show Appearance, 2000 Grammy Awards Finalist, 2000 Dove Awards Nominee and 1999 Dove Awards Telecast Appearance.
