One Heart One Voice Women

The second women’s meeting with worship and ministry will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Sept. 26 at The Palms Resort on Indian Bayou Trail in Destin.  Valerie Peterson, ordained minister and licensed mental health counselor, will speak. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. Free childcare provided for ages 6 weeks through 8 years with online reservation at http://www.deechernickyministries.org/. An offering will be taken.

Presentation

Barbara Warburton, wife of Dr. Jack Warburton of Destin, will give a presentation Oct. 3 at Christ Our Redeemer Catholic Church Council of Catholic Women’s Group.

Known professionally as Barbara Lord she will share her decision 52 years ago to give up a successful career in television and the Broadway stage to become a wife, mother and Pro Life activist. She will relate the challenges, joys and rewards in her life with Mary, Jesus’ mother, as her inspiration.

Ministry Fundraiser 

Good News Jail and Prison Ministry will hold a Sporting Clays Fundraiser Oct. 4 at Shoal River Sporting Clays and Shooting Center, 3985 Highway 90 East in Crestview. Proceeds directly support the chaplain in the Okaloosa County Jail and the programs that bring the Good News to county inmates and jail correction officers.

Entry fee of $75 includes 100 clays (12 or 20 gauge) from their 12 station Sporting Clays course and a barbeque lunch. Bring your own gun. Shells are available for purchase on site. Lunch is $10 a plate only for friends and family members. Recognition will be given to top shooters in advanced, intermediate, and novice class.

The field is limited to the first 72 shooters. Check in begins at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 9 a.m. To register, call Micah Mallory at 850-582-4194 or Chuck Turk at 850-496-8268. 

General Conference

The General Conference for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1-3 p.m. Oct. 4 and 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3-5 p.m. Oct. 5.

These events may be viewed at the local meeting houses and online at LDS.org or the BYU channels. The men and women in leadership positions in the Church will speak from the Conference Center in Salt Lake City, Utah via satellite. The public is invited to view all sessions. Call 862-3263.

Blessing of the Animals

Celebrate the Feast Day of St. Francis of Assisi at 10 a.m. Oct. 18 at St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 6464 Gulf Breeze Parkway. Please bring your pet properly leashed or caged to the front of the church. Water bowls and accidental waste cleanup will be provided. Bring a picture of your pet if they cannot accompany you.

Celebrate Recovery

Overcome hurts, habits and hang-ups every Monday night at the Destin Life Center on Beach Drive. Optional $5 dinner is from 5:45-6:30 p.m.; program 6:30-8:30 p.m.; and a dessert fellowship at 8:30.
