Destin Aglow

Mayor Mel Ponder will be guest speaker when Destin Aglow meets from 10 a.m. to noon May 19 in the 3rd floor ballroom at the Emerald Grande, 10 Harbor Blvd. Paul and Sarah Schmidt will lead worship.

Ponder is the founder and president of Business Empowered and the mayor of Destin. He and his wife, Mona, serve in numerous church, business and community service positions in our area. He helped institute the Destin Week of Blessings, an annual event occurring each year in April or May that unites the pastors and area churches to pray blessings and protection over its fishing fleet, businesses, families, and city.

Vacation Bible school

Destin UMC Expedition Everest VBS will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 8-12 at 200 Beach Drive for children who have completed Pre-K through fifth grade. Cost is $15/children. Bring money for an offering each day to help others. Deadline to register is June 5 at www.groupvbspro.com/vbs/ez/destinumc.

Vacation Bible School at Hope

Hope Lutheran Church, in partnership with Camp Dixie, will hold a free Vacation Bible School from July 6-10. to July 10th. The week long session will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday with lunch provided and 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Session is for ages 3 years to fifth grade with an early pick-up option for children 3-5 years old (must be potty trained.) All sessions will be held church, 3834 US Hwy. 98 West in Santa Rosa Beach.

Caring Coach

Catholic Charities of NW Florida will hold a food distribution at 3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at The Baker Recreation Center; at 1 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at St. Margaret’s; and at 1 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at Resurrection Church.

An ID is required for each household.  Please feel free to tell anyone you know who may be in need of food assistance or SNAP enrollment to contact our office at 244-2825 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Celebrate Recovery

Overcome hurts, habits and hang-ups every Monday night at the Destin Life Center on Beach Drive. Optional $5 dinner is from 5:45-6:30 p.m.; program 6:30-8:30 p.m.; and a dessert fellowship at 8:30.
