Vacation Bible school

Destin UMC Expedition Everest VBS will be held from 9 a.m. to noon June 8-12 at 200 Beach Drive for children who have completed Pre-K through fifth grade. Cost is $15/children. Bring money for an offering each day to help others. Deadline to register is June 5 at

Holy Kidz Summer Camps

Holy Kidz Summer Camps provide a fun wholesome Christ-centered summer experience for children entering K-5th grade in the fall of 2015. While learning about the love of Jesus, children will engage in crafts, games, science, recreation, cooking, stories, songs, waterday on Friday, and other surprises. 

Sessions are from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily beginning June 8 and continue throughout the summer at Good News United Methodist Church June 8-26 and Destin United Methodist Church July 6-31. Cost is $125/student for first week and $100/additional week. Siblings are $100/first week and $80/additional week. There are some limited daily rates at $35/child.

Holy Mackerel Summer Camps

Week-long camps for ages 5 years to 5th grade will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 15-19, July 6-10 and July 20-24 at Immanuel Anglican Church in Destin. Children will sing, dance, enjoy Bible study, skits, missions, crafts and some free time. Cost is $80/session and $60/siblings. Registration fee is $25. VBS at Community Church

Community Church of Santa Rosa Beach will hold its Vacation Bible School, Hometown Nazareth Where Jesus was a Kid, from 5:30-8 p.m. June 17-19 for children who have completed kindergarten through fifth grades. Dinner is included. Register online at

Vacation Bible Schoolat Hope

Hope Lutheran Church, in partnership with Camp Dixie, will hold a free Vacation Bible School from July 6-10. to July 10th. The week long session will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Thursday with lunch provided and 9 a.m. to noon Friday. Session is for ages 3 years to fifth grade with an early pick-up option for children 3-5 years old (must be potty trained.) All sessions will be held church, 3834 US Hwy. 98 West in Santa Rosa Beach.

Beach service

Destin United Methodist Church will have a beach service at 7:30 a.m. Sunday mornings through September at Henderson Beach Park.

Caring Coach

Catholic Charities of NW Florida will hold a food distribution at 3 p.m. on the second Tuesday of the month at The Baker Recreation Center; at 1 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at St. Margaret’s; and at 1 p.m. the fourth Tuesday of the month at Resurrection Church.

An ID is required for each household.  Please feel free to tell anyone you know who may be in need of food assistance or SNAP enrollment to contact our office at 244-2825 from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Sign-up for Fall Flair at DUMC

The seventh annual Fall Flair, sponsored by Destin United Methodist Women, will be held Sept. 11 and 12 in the spacious Life Center at Destin United Methodist Church 200 Beach Drive. A variety of arts and crafts will be for sale and be sure to check out the Bake Sale and the Soul Café. Applications are currently being taken for vendor booths.
