Meet Angelica, one of God's littlest angels

Little Angelica is in need of surgery to correct her medical condition.

Angelica was born premature Feb. 20, 2015, in the Philippines in one of the villages supported by Destin-based Mission Love Seeds.

She has hydrocephalus, a rare medical condition in which there is an abnormal accumulation of cerebrospinal fluid in the brain. This causes increased intracranial pressure inside the skull and may cause progressive enlargement of the head if it occurs in childhood, potentially causing convulsion, tunnel vision, and mental disability. It was once informally called "water on the brain."

Little Angelica needs to undergo an operation immediately.

Her last checkup was in June 2015. Then, by the grace of God, she was scheduled on March 1, 2016, for her first checkup since June.

Angelica was seen by doctors at the Philippines Children’s Hospital at that time. The doctor advised that Angelica needs to undergo an operation as soon as possible to place a drainage tube (shunt) between the brain ventricles and abdominal cavity to eliminate the high intracranial pressure. There is some risk of infection being introduced into the brain through these shunts and the shunts must be replaced as the person grows.

Angelica's family is indigent and does not even have enough money to pay for her checkups.

"Mission Love Seeds has stepped out in faith," Barbi Carroll, founder/president of MLS, told The Log. "God will provide for Angelica's needs and she is now scheduled for surgery on April 16. Only problem, we have not been able to raise all of the amount needed for Angelica to be able to have the surgery. Please help if you can if God speaks to your heart. No donation is ever too small."

Mission Love Seeds supports 12 villages in the Philippines in addition to helping local families in need.

Mission takes the word of God, food, clothing, medical doctors and dental treatment to these poverty stricken villages. The lives of the families there have been enriched through the churches, water purification systems, community centers, schools, homes and much more MLS has built through generous donations from churches, organizations and supporters.

All donations are tax deductible and any donation will be accepted and appreciated.
