Deputies arrest Kentucky fugitive in Destin area

A man wanted in Lewis County Kentucky for 1st degree rape of a child under 12 years old and 1st degree sodomy of a child under 12 years old has been located and arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

28-year old James Michael Savoie had moved to the Destin area and was using a stolen and assumed identity of a man from Tennessee while working at a Destin business.

Deputies with the OCSO Special Investigations Section tracked Savoie Wednesday afternoon, (September 27th), to the Motel 6 on Harbor Boulevard in Destin. They forced entry after Savoie refused to open the door. Savoie then refused orders to get on the ground so he was forced to the ground and secured in handcuffs.

Savoie was taken to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview where he is being held without bond as he awaits extradition to Kentucky.
