‘The place to be for Halloween:’ AJ’s to host arts and crafts with costume contest for kids
If your child wants a dress rehearsal for Halloween, then they will have a blast at Kids Halloween at AJ’s.
On Oct. 27, AJ’s Seafood & Oyster Bar, 116 Harbor Blvd. in Destin, will host its annual Kids Halloween Festivities. It will be held outside in the front of the restaurant.
“It’s the place to be for Halloween,” said Tracy McCraw marketing director at AJ’s.
The event is set to begin at 2 p.m. and last until “whenever.”
“The main thing is that we’ll have Bass Pro Shop, Build-A-Bear and Lowe’s all from the Destin Commons — they’ll be over here with crafts and building construction stuff,” said McCraw.
There will also be treats, pumpkin carving and drinks provided for the kids.
Amongst the children dressed as their favorite super hero, cartoon character, or frightening ghoul, one will be declared winner for best costume. The prize for the best kids costume has not yet been decided.
“Usually, I give away something from Build-A-Bear or something from us,” he said.

“The thing is it’s the opportunity for them to come down to the harbor, have a great time at AJ’s, watch the weigh-ins at the docks, and walk around the area because other stores in HarborWalk Village will be serving treats, too,” said McCraw.
