A Triple-B Bash: Blues, Brews & BBQ coming to HarborWalk Village

The Fifth Annual Blues, Brews & BBQ will once again fire up its grills, barbecue pits and smokers on Saturday, Nov. 10 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. at HarborWalk Village.
According to Jamie Hall, an event organizer at HarborWalk, the friendly competition brings out all kinds of restaurants, not just BBQ joints.
"We have all kinds of restaurants that participate — fine dining, seafood, barbecue, the restaurants that are known for something like 'Grandma's Famous Hot Sauce' — anyone can participate really," Hall told The Log of the more than 12 eateries participating in this year's triple-B celebration.
Some of the restaurants competing for the title of best barbecue are Harry T's, AJ's Seafood Restaurant & Oyster Bar and Another Broken Egg Cafe.
Each restaurant is setting up a booth or "tasting station" where guests can sample their creations.
Set up along the harbor, there will also be breweries from around the country — and locally, including, McGuire's Irish Pub and Props Craft Brewery & Grill — offering guests samples of more than 25 craft beers.
Guests can also sample different adult libations including single barrel bourbons, tequila and more. Experts will be on hand to teach guests about whiskey and the barrels it's made in, as well as the difference each barrel makes on the flavor profile of every bottle.
Back to the barbecue, the day offers patrons an almost never-ending supply of mouthwatering samples of coastal fare and BBQ that goes far beyond traditional ribs, pork and chicken. There will be creative offerings like smoked pork belly with an apricot glaze.
The cook-off event will be judged by local "celebrity" judges, including Log reporter Matt Algarin, with prizes awarded to top winners in categories consisting of, "The People's Choice - First Place" a $1,000 donation will be made to the charitable organization of the winner's choice; "The People's Choice - Second Place" a $500 donation will be made to the charitable organization of the winner's choice; "The People's Choice - Third Place" a $250 donation will be made to the charitable organization of the winner's choice. Additional categories include best traditional barbecue, most creative, best seafood barbecue and best booth.
"The winners of the cook-off earn bragging rights in their business circle and it's a really significant contribution for great charitable organizations," said Hall.
Presale armbands are available for only $20 and are $25 the day of the event. Each adult armband comes with a buy one get one free Kid’s Zone armband and children younger than 12 eat free. Armband purchases also benefit local charities.
The DizzyJuke Band will be exciting guests along the harbor during the event with their signature mix of blues, swing and country. Other live entertainment will be provided throughout the day.
Blues, Brews & BBQ is a day made for everyone, said Hall.
"It's a fun day on the harbor for the entire family — good food, drinks, music, games. It's got everything."
