Gulf Power replacing utility poles along U.S. Hwy. 98

Crews from Gulf Power have been busy this week as they have begun to replace the older, wooden utility poles along U.S. Hwy. 98 in Destin. The wooden poles are being replaced with concrete poles.

The replacement is part of Gulf Power’s comprehensive plan to “strengthen our system for storms and to enhance reliability" and is expected to take about three to four months to complete. Work was expected to begin at Matthew Boulevard and continue along the south side of U.S. Hwy. 98 to Regatta Bay Boulevard with periodic lane closures.
