If you like to dabble with paints, ever wanted to learn to paint, or, if you have a heart for Habitat for Humanity, come to Destin Commons Feb. 28.

American Ad Federation of the Emerald Coast is presenting a painting party hosted by Abrakadoodle Art Education that night from 6 to 8 p.m., with 15 percent of proceeds from the class benefiting Habitat for Humanity of Walton County.

An hour and a half will be spent creating a work of art on canvas under the direction of Cherish Webb, who teaches for Abrakadoodle. Webb will lead the class in creating the painting "A Winter Sun."

Abrakadoodle, in business now for five years, is owned and operated by Erin Bakker.

"We have always offered classes for kids, but we wanted to widen our reach and begin offering classes for adults also," said Bakker. "From here on out, I want to offer one painting party a month that will benefit different charities. This one will kick it off."

Bakker said the class is geared toward beginning painters, and no experience is necessary.

"You can move at your own pace in a very laid-back environment and take home a work of art of your own creating at the end of class," she said.

Remaining class time will be spent mixing and mingling, enjoying a spring fashion trunk show from the Ella Madison Boutique collection, and trying on the fashions, if you choose. A 15-percent discount will also be available off any fashion purchases that night.

Ella Madison Boutique is a virtual online boutique based in Destin and owned by Heather Jenkins.

For their enjoyment, students are encouraged to bring the libation of their choice, if they choose.

The number of participants will be capped at 35, and the cost is $30 with all painting supplies furnished.

Class will take place Thursday at Abrakadoodle's Art Studio at Destin Commons in the bottom of the parking garage diagonally across from Belk.
