HarborWalk Village launches new adventures for 2013

Special to The Log
His second time performing in Destin, Louis Prima Jr., the son of the swing music legend, will perform with his band the Witnesses at HarborWalk Village on May 26 at 7 p.m. before a fireworks finale over Destin harbor.

HarborWalk Village has your ticket to fun this summer.

“There is something new and exciting for everyone to explore,” said HarborWalk’s Jamie Hall. “Fishing adventures, shopping, dining and entertainment, HarborWalk Village promises more fun than ever before.”

Here are some of the additions you will see this year.

Getting To The Fun

Travel along the harbor is more fun when you take advantage of a water taxi or boat shuttle. You can also ride a three-person, people-powered rickshaw or HarborWalk Pedi Cab for free. So parking will never be an issue again. Whether by boat or bike, ride into the harbor in comfort and style. Get here and then go everywhere!

Ride Emerald Coast's Longest Zip Line

Adventurer seekers can ride the highly anticipated zip line. It is the longest and most beautiful ride along the Emerald Coast. High above the harbor you can safely glide over 1,000 feet on a round trip between two 80 foot steel towers overlooking the pristine Destin Harbor. This duel person zip line will allow riders to zip and share the experience together. Riders can digitally record and or photograph the zip line experience and staff will instantly post your adventure on YouTube, Facebook and other social sites.

Rock Climbing and Free Fall

Live on the edge on an exhilarating 40-foot, interactive, LED-illuminated rock climbing wall, which comes with a gravity defying free fall. These extreme adventures will attract the thrill seeker in everyone. The excitement requires no prior rock climbing experience.

Water Trampolines

Bounce on Destin harbor's very own water trampolines. Harbor Launch brings some fun worth jumping for this summer at HarborWalk Village. Jump safely on large trampolines that will bring out the kid in everyone.

Jet over the Jetty

JetPack Destin will take sightseeing to a new level, literally. JETLEV technology will allow you to soar to new heights along the Destin harbor. Effortlessly explore the view from 20 feet above the harbor on your own jet pack.

Paddle Board Adventures

Kitty Hawk Kites offers more adventure with paddle and kayak rentals. Explore the beauty of the Destin harbor while on a peaceful paddle. Watch the dolphins play up close and personal. Free lessons from highly-trained friendly staff will get you standing up in minutes. No experience is necessary to make this your new favorite sport.

Coyote Ugly Destin

One of the most famous bars on the planet is now in Destin, featuring the fun and fiery coyotes, their spirited bartenders who dance on the bar and mix a great cocktail!

Famous Dave's Dogs

These famous dogs on hot steamed buns offered by colorful characters are back at Harry T's this season. Get 'em while they are hot!

La Famiglia

Now also at HarborWalk Village, the local favorite offers their popular menu with a wide variety of Italian favorites. La Famiglia serves classic family recipes, handed down and perfected by the generations. Enjoy a distinctive and diverse wine list, and dine overlooking the beautiful view of sunset over the Destin bridge and East Pass.

Crab Island Cantina

The restaurant features a new entertainment stage, where sunset serenades are performed by the best live musicians in the area. Fresh made-to-order, hand-crafted margaritas never sounded so good. Dance to Latin sounds every Saturday night. Salsa anyone?

Memorial Day Celebration

Kick-off summer May 24-26 with free concerts, kid's activities, street performers, and a fireworks finale at 9 p.m. May 26 over the harbor. Performers include Departure: The Journey Tribute Band on May 24 and 25 and Louis Prima Jr. and the Witnesses on May 26. The event is free. Call 424-0600.
