Several area restaurants provided food for the Destin Beer Festival, including oysters from Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House, which narrowly beat out Tucker Dukes' hamburgers for the Best Food Award.

About 1,250 brew fans flocked to the Destin Beer Festival at Chan's Wine World Saturday, Sept. 28.

Chan's manager Randy Hayden said the festival is the premier beer-centered event in Destin. More than 35 brewers and distilleries were on hand with more than 100 beers, cyders and whiskies for festival-goers to sample. Several local restaurants provided food, including Tucker Duke's Lunchbox, Bonefish Grill, The Wine Bar and Boshamps, which won the Best Food Award for its oysters.

The event raised money for the Children's Neighborhood of Children in Crisis, which "provides homes and establishes hope for the abused, neglected and abandoned children of Northwest Florida."

Chan's manager Randy Hayden said organizers were overwhelmed by the positive response from the festival attendees. He said he does not yet know how much money was raised for Children's Neighborhood, but that Chan's will present a check to the organization soon.
