With Okaloosa schools out for a teacher's workday on Oct. 21, AJ's Seafood and Oyster Bar has a plan for the kids.

AJ's, located along Destin harbor and home of the 65th annual Destin Fishing Rodeo, has moved their Fall Festival for the children from the Saturday before Halloween to Monday, Oct. 21.

"It's all about the kids on Monday," said Tracy McCraw, AJ's director of marketing. "We're giving the parents and kids something to do while the kids are out of school."

Starting at 1 p.m. under the big white tent at AJ's, free festivities will abound for children 12 and under.

"Home Depot will have the kids’ crafts out there and Bass Pro will have their corn hole toss," McCraw said.

There will also be face painters, Build-A-Bear, as well as Nonie's Ark Animal Encounters with all sorts of animals for the children to pet.

"We will have a bounce house and pumpkin decorating," McCraw said. "We will supply everything. Just bring the kids.”

The event is free and open to all.

"It would be great if they can come in costume, but they don't have to come in costume to have fun," McCraw said.

AJ's will also have candy for the children and they will also get a chance to bob for apples.

"The most fun we have here at AJ's is with the kids," McCraw said. "It's a lot of work, but it's more of a community thing.”

The Fall Festival is just one of many events AJ's does for children in the community. In November, they play host to the Pinfish Classic and in December they have their Lunch with Santa.

"We think it's a service to give the parents something to do with their kids on a day that's not normally a kids day. So if you are looking for something to do with your kids, come on down," McCraw said.
