Lawmen track purse snatcher

Deputies scrambled to the scene and set up a perimeter after a purse-snatching occurred in the area of Target on Harbor Boulevard in Destin just before 7 p.m. Wednesday.

There was very little description of the man, only that he was in a green shirt and had a backpack. A chase ensued on foot, but the man eluded deputies and may have stolen a bicycle. Deputies are checking with Target to see if they have video of the suspect.

Four Loko over the head followed by hitting, dragging, report says

A man is accused of pouring a Four Loko over his girlfriend’s head, before hitting her and dragging her around their residence. The incident occurred at a Sibert Avenue residence, according to the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office.

She told deputies she hit him in self-defense, and two witnesses corroborated the woman’s story.

The man refused to comment except to say sheriff’s deputies were “barking up the wrong tree.”

He was charged with battery. His plea date is Oct. 29.
